The Science Behind the Medal
Produced in 2024

NRK's regular segment, "The Science Behind the Medal," set out to create a feature ahead of the Paris Olympics focusing on training load and its impact on athletes' muscles and joints. To illustrate this, they wanted to showcase the strain experienced by breakdancer Daniel Grindeland and 100-meter sprinter Salum Kashafali using our robotic arm and a high-speed camera.
The result was a series of ultra slow-motion sequences, capturing the intricate movements of muscles and joints under intense physical stress. These recordings are part of a broader feature produced by Erlend Lånke Solbu and Jørgen Leangen, exploring the effects of training load on elite athletes.
